Not naive at all! Magazines like The Drift, The Cleveland Review of Books, The Mars Review, KGB LitMag, The Metropolitan Review, and more all take submissions and hold readings. As for reading series, there are lots of them on Substack (e.g. TENSE, Language Arts, Black Lipstick, Confessions), and then one place will lead you to another.
I liked this quite a lot . . . gently, self-conscious, critical yet rather affectionate. It's a good stance.
Thanks David!
Genuine but extremely naive question - Where does one go to find literary readings to attend/submit to? Is there a directory some sort?

Thanks for sharing. Lots to dive into here.
anything that resuscitates the ancient medium of the written word is a good thing
