Oh! I love your writing so much. London is really nice. I saw a lot of theatre there. I also like the double decker buses too. I always tried to sit up top.
It sounds like you had a good time! I like NYC but could never live there. It's too expensive. But it has amazing energy!
Omg. It was a year ago, but it was just local theatre. I did see Oklahoma for the first time and thought it has a really weird plot. I liked the song that the boy crazy girl sings and listened to it on repeat on Spotify.
Hi Chris! Really great piece on your thoughts and travel itself. Your Master of None piece is one of my first introductions to you and Plan A, and I could not help but think of the Italian episode where Dev is toasted by the other Italians in the bar, and the happenstance encounters that make travel gullibly charming. Or similar to The Bear episode with Marcus in Copenhagen. It was amusing to realize it happened to you too in London -- many wholesome and creative meetings with no malice, just curiousity. In all honesty, when I think of London, I think of fog, unfriendliness, and imperialism, and so your piece is making me view its people more openly haha. I also noticed that you mentioned living in NYC for nearly a decade. So much has been written about it, but as someone who is aware from a literary, creative, and Asian activist standpoint, I am wondering if you would write your thoughts about living in NYC. Partly because I am interested in those topics and will be staying in NYC for the summer next year.
Hey Sunny! I was actually just thinking of soon writing a piece about the various local cultural events I've been to in the last couple of weeks in Sept. in NYC. Maybe it could become a somewhat regular series.
I was also skeptical about enjoying London that much before going there, so I know what you're talking about. But I enjoyed it a lot, thankfully.
This was great. I do try to get jealous of myself. I lived in that inner-east part of London for 5 years and it was nice to see your pictures of it. (I recognise that exact spot on the canal; in spring that whole canal can be lit up with blossoms.) I never saw vomit on the bus in those 5 years though. Funny how much randomness there is in what happens.
I never went to Helgi's! But I am not very cool. I used to sometimes hang around Broadway market eating noodles until 11pm but that's probably as late as it got. Once I went to Night Tales Loft and saw a pretty great saxophonist. Did you by any chance try Popham's croissants/coffee? Best coffee in london imo.
“We should get jealous of ourselves more often.”
i like this a lot
Nice piece Chris. That’s a beautiful app idea!
Gonna be a billionaire

Thanks Kitty! What plays did you see there?

Thanks so much for the shoutout! It’s really cool to see London from your perspective

Ever go to Helgi's? It was close to my apartment and it was one of the few bars that was open late on a Sunday night that I could find nearby.
